Problem

With Real Estate being a buzzword, everyone is familiar with the traditional way of investing - You needed to save a lot to invest. But is there an alternative to this traditional investing method? And if there is, how best can a user find information about this alternative without scrambling the internet in vain?

Opportunity

Jointly as an alternative means can allow users or investors to invest in Real Estate, without the headache of trying to wait years to save before investing. And to do this, there needs to be easy access to valuable information.

I was tasked with redesigning the website in a way that a user can find information easily and in the shortest period of time.

The Process

From understanding the above problem and opportunity, a user should be able to find information about the product{Why Jointly}, they should be able to contact or make enquiries and have easy access to registering on the Jointly platform.

Design - Figma

User Flow

The goal of the user flow was at every point a user could easily register on the website, without having to leave the existing page;

Mood Board

Grid system

I used a 12-column grid with a margin of 140 and a gutter space of 30. This was because I wanted enough white space, to make the website simple enough for anybody to navigate through.

Fonts

Made use of Averta-Std.

Final Design

Note: At the time of writing this portfolio, this was the final design; however, since, after the launch, there has being updates on the website to create a better user experience.

Development - Webflow

By the time the prototype and design were completed and approved, it was easier to build on webflow. At the time this picture was taken I was still working on the home page.

Overall I had 7 specific pages to create.

Challenges

As this is my first real-life project during the course of my research I was overwhelmed by the fact that I needed to understand who the user was and how best to articulate the necessary information they needed to take the desired action.

Secondly, as the main driver of this project getting opinions from others was a bit of trouble mostly from persons who didn't have a customer-centric or user-experience focus.

Thirdly I also found it difficult to pick the perfect fonts or colour combinations because the product had multiple colours.

Resolution

Knowing and understanding who the potential users were and also understanding the goal of the project helped to streamline my design process.

Being the main driver of the project, I had to think like a UX and UI designer almost at the same time, which has opened my mind to understand that everything around me is based on user experience.

I also learnt and read more about visual hierarchy as it relates to colours and typography.

Lastly, I was able to understand that as a designer, you should always strive to design for the user.

Thanks for taking out time to read this. If you got up to this point, it means you found my work good enough and interesting. I am opened to working with you. Send a mail: hilarypeters132@gmail.com.
