Introducing the Stockie App
As a concept project the name of this application is based on personal preference. Stockie is a stock investing application that allows a user buy stocks, invest it and also withdraw their earnings[ dividends ] from the app. The goal of this project was to have a better understanding of how to think as a UX designer.
The Challenge
Users (Stock investors in Nigeria) find it difficult to invest in stock in with existing investment Apps, due to information overload and complex presentation of information on the app. Users are frustrated with the time it takes to invest, this is as a result of unfriendly user interfaces, complex graphs and excessive ambiguity of information. These issues affects the over all general user experience negatively. PS: The above problem statement was created out of the need to solve a very typical problem.
The Opportunity
Research and help users simplify every task needed to make a stock investment. With this in mind, I had devised a means by which users can have a seamless process of making a stock investment without unnecessary investment jargons.
The Process
Going forward, from the problem statement and the opportunity, I decided to think of a simple process that a user can follow through to achieve a goal [to invest].

User Journey or User Flow

Wireframing
With an understanding of the user flow, I came up with the wireframe to show the sketch of the idea I had in mind.

Components
Creating components has been a fascination for me, so I used this opportunity to create one specifically for this project. PS: I made sure they were all responsive.

Typography and Color
I used Rubik and the font sizes where from material design Typography system.

Prototyping
A key objective of this project was also to understand the basics of prototype and how it can help to visualize a product better.

Unique Challenge
As a concept project, I was faced with number of challenges:
- Being the only one working on this project I had issues with brain storming and also having a third-party opinion which would have helped to broaden the research and the design process.
- As a stock investment app, there are more features that can be added to the application that can improve users experience, but due to the circumstances surrounding a typical concept project, I had to make do with the goal of the project.
Takeaways
- A major takeaway from this project was the learning process for me. As one who is interested in Product design, I made sure I learnt one or two things that has opened my mind to more indepth knowledge about designing for the user.
- Although it wasn't a full-on Project, I made sure I documented all I learnt and to apply them going forward.
